LIMITATION OF EXPORTS

Australian Opposition

DECISION OF DAIRY BOARD

Press Association.— Copyright

Sydney, April 20.—The Australian Dairy Produce Board to-day decided to oppose any limitation of butter exports to the United K^gdom. The members of the hoard subsequently met the Minister of Commerce, Mr. F. H. Stewart, ana informed him of the decision. Tt is understood the Federal Cabinet will agree to-morrow to allow the unrestricted export of butter to Britain. In a statement after a conference with the New Zealand Dairy Board representatives it was pointed our, that the New Zealand delegates submitted the decision to their board, which opposed restrictions, and the Australians decided it

would not be in the interests of Australian farmers to restrict shipments. Several suggestions were discussed with a view to affording relief to the producers. It was considered the best way would be to make a levy on production and pay a bounty on export.
