Conference at New Plymouth

! The Manchester Unity Oddfellows' conference was continued at New Plymouth yesterday, when considerable private business was transacted. The rules of the society and suggest--1 ions for their amendment were discussed in the mor ling session. The statement of ! accounts and the balance sheet for the year ending December 31, 1932, and the ! reports presented by the trustees and ! Parliamentary agent were adopted. Amendments submitted for the purpose of modifying the general rules, especially with reference to the rights and privileges of trustees and to the terms and conditions of policies held by members contributing for increased funeral benefits, came under discussion during the afternoon. It was decided that the next moveable conference be held at Christchurch. The conference date was left to the discretion of directors and society officers. Officers for the period were elected as follows: Grand Master, Bro. T. J. Archbold (Christchurch); Deputy Grand Master, Bro. A. C. Blair (Wellington); Grand Treasurer, Bro. George Read (Wellington); directors, Bros. N. B. Bellringer (New Plymouth), N. Bruce (Palmerston North), E. W. Guise (Wellington), W. McMillan (Auckland), N. J. McKay (Waipawa), A. G. Stewart (Nelson); trustee, Bro. W. I. Clark (Wellington); auditor, Mr. E. W. A. Kcllow. A combined social evening of Loyal Egmont, Excelsior, Okato and Waitara Lodges was held at St. Mary's Hall last night, delegates attending with their wives daughters. District Grand Muster B. G. Woodley welcomed the visitors and Grand Master H. S. M. replied. Conference business will be proceeded Adth this morning but a trip to North Mount Egmont hr>s been planned for this ifternoon, and there is to be a theatre iarty to-night.
