ORANGE LODGE

Opposition to Communism and Sunday Trains Press Association. —Copyright. Christchurch, April 17.—The Grand Lodge of the Loyal Orange Institution to-day carried a resolution declaring that the members were hound to defend the Christian religion. The resolution proceeded: "This Grand Lodge of New Zealand, believing that Communism is based on Atheism and is opposed to all religion. ...id that its declared purpose is to destroy religion, declares that it is the duty of members to oppose Communism, and that membership on any Communistic organisation is incompatible with the principles of the Orange Institution." The lodge also carried a resolution associating itself with the protests of the Protestant churches against Sunday excursion trains and "against such Sabbath desecration as flights carried out in New Zealand on the Lord's Day by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith.''
