Eventually (he City of Lille took her in tow, but the rope broke and the storm increasing in fury made it impossible for the tow to be resumed for another two days. Eventually the City of Delhi readied Boston Harbour. The Exeter City foundered after the crew had been rescued by the steamer American Merchant.
