Over-hang on Lorries That the amount of 'iver-haug on many motor-lorries at the present time constituted a grave dfu.ger to motorists was stressed by members of the Southland Motor Association at the monthly meeting of the executive, and on the motion of Mr. J. R. Haigh it was decided to write to the Southland and Wallace County Councils pointing out the grave danger to motorists travelling at night and asking that the regulations be strictly enforced. Dr. Stanley Brown said that' when approaching at night a lorry with an excessive over-hang, a motorist found that the dangerpbint was the extreme right-hand light and he moved that it should be a recommendation to the South Island Motor Union that the measurement of overhang should be taken from the righthand light and not from the hub-cap. This motion, it was stated, would entail an alteration to the present regulations and the matter was finally referred to the Road Traffic and Camp Committee ,to draw up a resolution to be forwarded to the South Island Motor Union.
