Struck on the head iast evening by a man who stepped out from behind a hedge, Mr. A. Browning, an engineer, living at 70 Hataitai Road, received a severe gash** that required medical attention, says the Dominion.

Mr. Browning was almftst at his own back door when ho was assaulted, and, upon his crying out, the attacker fled. The Free Ambulance was summoned and took Mr. Bhowning to Wellington Hospital where he was given attention. Later he was returned to his home.
