SOUTH ISLAND PLEASED EFFECT ON OP«ERATIONS DUNBDIN, July 19.—The activity in the cheese market is hailed with pleasure by the ninety factories in the South Island Dairy Association. Though the reported rise in price to •:d a pound f.o.b. at which figure sales have lately taken place from stocks awaiting shipment, is of greater con. cern to thii Si:uth Island, seeing that 'he factories which make only cheese largely outnumber those which make only butter in these parts of the Dominion, some of the larger cheese fac,;uiosare kept going the whole year round. Those that usually have a winter spell will recommence manufacturing in September.
