CROQUET SEASON CLOSES
FINAL DAY AT AVON Favoured with' lovely weather yesterday, the Avon Croquet Club held their official closing day, when quite a number of visitors was present. Golf croquet was played during the afternoon. The winners -were Mrs. W. Clark 1, Mrs. Lampshire 2. Afternoon tea was in the capable hands of Mrs.:,Moore, Mrs. Alger and Mrs. Lampshire;, ■ The club was, pleased to have pre sent Mrs. W. Hoskin, ex-president Hie club; as guest ; of honour. ■ . Mrs H. C. North, on behalf- of the members, presented Mrs. Hoskin with a very pretty Indian" hand-painted brass bowl. Mrs. Hoskin, in returning thanks, said she regretted leaving Avon, and would, often think ot the happy times spent there.' Trophies won during the season were then as follow': Championship, Mrs. Collihgwood; runner-up, Mrs. Hill. Handicap cup, A grade/Mrs/ Lampshire; . runner up Mrs. Collingwbbd. B grade, Mrs. Nolan. C .gradf Mrs. Burton. Mrs North's trophies' tor new members were won b,r Mrs. Hughes 1 Mrs* Bryce 2,- M-rs. v Campbell and Mrs. Clark tieing for third place.
