UNUSUAL APPLICATION
FIRST OF° ITS KIND PLEA TO HOLD INQUEST An application for 'permission to hbld an inquest has been made to the Attorney-General by the Taumarumii Police. This is believed to be the first application of tile kind under the Coroners Amendment Act, 1930. The case concerns the death of Mr. Dotiald Alfred Halcrow, of Prankton Junction, who was drowned in the ■Wanganui River on May 31. His body has not been recovered. The Act provides for the holding of inquests in such cases.
