The House of Representatives met et 10.30 to-day. Replying to an interjection from Mr. 5). G. Sullivan, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates said he would probably be ■ anaklng his unemployment statement bn Tuesday. The Auckland Harbour Board and other Local Bodies Empowering Bill ■was reported from the Lands Committee without amendment. The Rural Intermediate Credit Amendment Bill (Mr. Forbes) was put through the committee with minor amendments. The Taupirl Drainage and River jPiatrict Amendment Bill (Hon A. Hamilton), was put through the committee and it. and the Rural Intermediate iCre’dit Amendment Bill were then read at third time and passed. Labour Shares The Hon. A. Hamilton then moved the fleebnd reading of the Companies isinpowering Amendment Bill, and said it would simplify procedure in regard to granting labour shares. It was formerly stipulated that labour shares could not be granted unless the company was authorised to do so by its memorandum of association. The JBiH would enable shares to be granted unless the memoranorandum of association stipulated otherwise. Mr. M. J. Savage said he regarded the Bill with suspicion, in view v of the reference to the Arbitra- » tion Court in the Supplementary f Budget. He thought the measure might be utilised to take advantage of conditions laid down by * the Arbitration Court, and suggested it might be held over in the meantime. c : The debate was interrupted by the adjournment of the House at x p.m.
