A much-needed rain fell during the last two days and pastures that were inclined to look dry are now looking quite green again. Tanks also were getting very low. The milk supply is gradually dropping. Farmers who have been burning fern and scrub on hillsides are now occupied in sowing grass seed on the burns. Mushrooms are making their appearance here in small quantities. Mrs. G. Bocock, who has been visiting Mrs. Stanford, has returned to her homo in New Plymouth. Mrs. L. Francis has returned home with her infant daughter* Mr. and Mrs. Carrington spent a short holiday visiting their daughter, Mrs. Francis. Miss R. Jarvis is staying with friends at Puniwhakau. Mr. M. Hannah, of Toko, is now residing in this district. Mr. and Mrs. F. Bevins and family have taken up their residence at Tarata.

Miss Prince, the local schoolmistress, who has been ill, is progressing slowly. Mr. A. Jarvis Is to be congratulated on winning a cup at the boxing contest held at Stratford last Saturday night.

Mr. Nilson is spending a holiday as the guest of Mrs. Prince. Another earthquake was felt here about 12.10 a.in. on Sunday. Mrs. Williams has been visiting Wanganui.
