TE PUKE, March 23
An exceptionally fine red deer head of 19 points was secured by Mr Tom Whitcly at the week-end when on a shooting expedition to Te Toko, Whakaotane County. The head, which fell to his rifle at a range of 250yds., had a spread of 45 inches. This is stated to bo the finest head secured in these parts. Stalkers say the deer are even more plentiful than last year, and should provide keen sport during the ‘'roaring” ’Reason, which it is anticipated will start within a fortnight.
