At the wool sales 10,672 bales were offered and 10,520 sold, also 319 privately.

The average price last week wa 11. M. per pound.

A strong market ruled to-day and prices advanced five per cent, on last week's rates. Skirtings were ten per cent, higher. An Australian season's record price of 31Jd. was obtained for greasy Merino fleece. WANGANUI WOOL SALES Wools which were passed in at the January offering at 2|d to 4hi a lb brought from Gd up to Sd at yesterday's sale. A full ben el of buyers participated and bidding was animated all through, particularly lively competition being manifest for the brighter lots. Germany again headed the Continental section of the buyers to whom the greater bulk of the offering was disposed. Germany sought fleece wools and Italy and Belgium competed with her. The class of wool offered suited the Continental demand, Bradford being consistently active in search of the better class mat rial. It was evident, however, that Bradford was governed by restricted limits. The top price yesterday was lOfd given for Down lambs.
