THOUSAND MEN ENTRENCHED
SYDNEY WATER BOARD Press Association.—Copyright. (Reed. 10.10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Inability to secure a further loan for developmental work means that about a thousand men wjll be retrenched on Friday by the Metropolitan Water and Sewerage Board. This represents one-third of the board's regular employees, and it is feared that another 1,500 will be rendered idle in the near future, resulting in interference in developmental work, which will mean a shortage of water in the city area next summer.
