“I’m perishing for a smoke!” Thus Major Scott, as he climbed out of the British airship RIOO immediately after her return flight to England from Montreal. So saying, he pulled a ready-filled pipe from his pocket and lit up. Yes, most smokers know what it is to “perish for a smoke.” In good times and in bgd, when thipgs are going right and when they are going wrong, there’s nothing like a pipe! Harmful? Tell it to the marines! Beneficial, sq long as the baccy’s right. The imported leaf may be harmful, owing to the quantity of nicotine it often contains, because nicotine is as deadly as vanide, although slower in its action. Not so our New Zealand toasted tobgcco. The toasting eliminates most of the nicotine in it, so that it is perfectly harmless. And it is unrivalled for flavour and bouquet. There are only four brands: Riverhead Gold, Cavendish, Navy Cut No. 3, and Cut Plug No. 10. Oo others are manufactured. But, of course, there are imitations!
