OPUNAKE RACES The tolalisator figures at the Opuuake races yesterday showed a decrease of £9,827 10s ( as compared with last year, the figures being £ 9,297 l»s and £19,119 respectively. The gate receipts also showed a decline, being £490, against £791 for last. year. The principal race, the Opnnake Cup. attracted a field of nine, Calamine being favourite. The race was run in the rain and mist. Kawhakina took the lead early and led into ihe straight, where Monalof came fast to win by a length. The win was a popular one, the horse being acclaimed as it returned to the birdcage, as it is owned and trained locally, its owner being Mr. Pohe Tito, tbe clei k of tbe course.
