“Your Autograph, Please” The American held events athlete, H. Rothert, is just the type to appeal to the fancy of boys. It was plain on Saturday afternoon at the sports meeting at Athletic Park, Wellington, that this line physical specimen has a host of youthful admirers in Wellington. His autograph was much sought after. ,As he was leaving the ground after the sports to go to the dressing-rooms he was besieged by boys, and a few grown-up “boys,” too, who wanted his signature. Some of the boys had autograph books, and those who did not, when they saw that the big American was cheerfully submitting to the applications, produced programmes and pieces ot paper, and Rotnert was kept busy for some minutes.

Napier Gains a Beach A Napier resident, writing to a friend in Auckland, stated: “Electric light is on again, so we can now use our stove, and the water is quite close. Letters and papers are now being delivered once more. We still have no gas. Yesterday I went over to Westshore ocean beach, which has been greatly altered by the earthquake. Instead of being all shingle and very steep, it is now covered with line, i.nn sand, and shallow for many yards. In fact, it is now one of the best beaches in Hawke’s Bay, if not in the North Island. It is longer than Takapuna Beach. Napier has an immense asset in this beach if it does not alter, as there is room for hundreds of seaside cottages, and there is a good car road. All that is wanted is some trees. On Sunday we had a united service in the Methodist Church, Clive Square, which is undamaged, and has been passed as lit for use. The Congregational Church is also undamaged, but has not yet. been passed as fit for use.’"
