TARANAKI DEFEATED BY AUCKLAND. In the interprovincial match between Auckland and Taranaki at New Plymouth on Saturday, the visitors won ten matches and the home team nine. Miss J. Ward, of Stratford, was a member of the Taranaki team. With Stromboh in the combined doubles she defeated Miss Frankham 'and Hubble, 6—4, 6—5. With Miss J. Taylor In the women’s doubles, she was beaten 6—4, I—6,1 — 6, 9 —7; Miss Ward lost the singles to Miss Robertson, 6—4, 2—6, 6—3.
