ELTHAM COUNTY WAGES. DEC ISI ()N DEEE URE D. ELTHAM, This Day. The Eltliam County Council discussed wages reduction at the monthly meeting on Saturday and after a free discussion in committee it was resolved that ;tl present no reduction should be made, and that the matter be reviewed in three months’ time. The Eltham County has for a considerable time paid their men IT/- a day, which is .1/- a day less than some other counties in Taranaki. This is counteracted to a considerable extent by the extra holidays received by Ell ham County workers compared with men engaged by other similar bodies. The Eltham County is in a very enviable position, compared with other counties in Taranaki, whose office administration costs (including engineer's and clerk’s salaries) art; reported much higher (ban (he Eltham County, and lids reflects considerable, credit, not. only on the chairman (Mr A. L. Campbell) and Ids tel low councillors, hut also on those two valuable officers, the clerk (Mr A. Tiplady) and the engineer (Mr E. Mugae ridge).
