Mr. John K. Amesbury, of Auckland, is in Stratford and is at the Stratford Hotel. Dr. Shaw, of Napier, was a guest at the Stratford Hotel over the weekend. Mr. S. B. Hunter will leave Stratford next Saturday to join the Monowai on Tuesday at Wellington, on a trip to the United Slates. Mr. B. E. S. Brodie, chief postmaster at Napier, retires on superannuation on March 31. Before going to Napier he was chief postmaster at New Plymouth, Superintendent L. B. Davies, of the Stratford Fire Brigade, returned home on Saturday night after attending the Fire Brigades Conference at Nelson. Mrs. M. T. Phillips was a passenger by the mail train this morning for Wellington, en route to Nelson, to attend the annual conference of the Y.W.C.A., of which she is Taranaki provincial president. Dr. Armstrong is at the Stratford Hotel. Coming from Victoria, he has visited many towns in New Zealand, and has decided to commence the practice of his profession in Stratford. Dr. Armstrong is a bowler and spent yesterday afternoon on the Avon bowling green. Mrs. Armstrong and family will arrive as soon as a suitable residence has been obtained in the town.
