Hr. F. H. R. Duncan, of the Napier Post Office staff, has been Transferred to Stratford for duty at the local office. The Stratford Hospital Board has appointed Nurse R. McCarroll, of Parerata, North Auckland, to succeed Miss Myers as district nurse at Whangamomona. There were 23 applicants for the position, three of whom write from Australia. Lord and Lady Baden-Powell, who returned to Wellington yesterday from the South Island, were the guests of their Excellencies until their departure for Australia in the afternoon. In the evening their Excellencies were present at a theatre party. Mr. lan D. Coster, who was formerly on newspaper staffs in Christchurch and Auckland, and who has worked recently for the "Evening Standard" and "Sunday Dispatch," London, has been appointed assistanteditor of "Nash's Pall Mall Magazine." Mrs. Madden and son, who with two other members of the family were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. Davies for the past five weeks, returned to Napier by the mail train this morning. The other son and daughter left yesterday for their home, which was devastated in the earthquake.
