A combined meeting of public servants here carried a resolution as follows: "In common with other sections of the community we are prepared to bear an equal share of sacrifice or temporary taxation, but we fail to see how a reasonable person can expect the public servants to bear one-third of the estimated deficit, while they represent only one-ninth of the wage-earners of the Dominion.”
