DOCTOR GAOLED ON SERIOUS CHARGE
CASE FOR MENTAL HOSPITAL, COUNSEL SAYS AUCKLAND, This Day,. JOHN SPREULL CURRIE (34), a medical practitioner, of Otahuhu, was to-day sentenced to six months imprisonment for wilful and obscene exposure. Counsel said accused deplored his conduct and asserted that he had continually struggled against the commission of such acts, and counsel thought that, although not insane, Currie should be sent to a mental hospital for observation. The Magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt- said no doubt everybody who committed such offences was out of gear, but he had a duty to the public. In sentencing accused, he left it to the prison authorities to say whether he should get the treatment he desired.
