THE CENTRAL DIVISION & SINGLES CHAMPION TO F. WESTON (AVON) Yesterday afternoon play in the competition to find the champion of champions in the Central Division was continued on the Avon green, the weather being ideal for the game. The respective champions were: W. Harris (Stratford), P. Weston (Avon), J. R. M. Stewart (Eitham), and E. Spurdle (Inglewood). The results of the rounds were as follow: — First Round Harris 21 v. Stewart 11. Weston 24 v. Spurdle 18. Second Round Spurdle 21 v. Stewart 15. Harris 21 v. Weston 18. Stewart was eliminated. Third Round Weston 21 v. Harris 16. Spurdle, a bye. Fourth Round Spurdle 21 v. Harris 14. Weston, a bye. Final Each player scored alternately in ones until Weston suddenly got a four on the sixtn head, the scores then being six to four in his favour. In the next three heads he got two threes for Spurdle's one and went on to. pile up 16 to Spurdle's eight, on the 13th head. Spurdle only scored a two during the balance of the game, while Weston gradually accumulated his 21 points on the l?th head. Messrs. J. McDonald and H. C. North, of the Avon Club, acted as umpires, and the event was supervised by Mr. A. H. R. Amess as representative or the Taranaki Bowling Centre. Each game consisted of 21 points, and the play-off was arranged on the two-life system. Mr. Amess thanked the Avon Club for lending its green and having it in such god condition. He also extended hearty congratulations to Mr. Weston on winning the singles championship of the division for the second time in succession.

AVON BEAT STRATFORD IN FRIENDLY GAME On the Stratford green yesterday afternoon, a team from the Avon Club defeated the home representatives by 19 points. The green was in good order and play was keen throughout. Avon won in three out of the five rinks.
