NEW PLYMOUTH SHOW GOOD WEATHER AND AITE.ND- | ANCE ; i The weather for People's Day at ; the Taranaki Agricultural Society's j fifty-fifth annual show at Waiwukaiho ] yesterday was all that could be desired, and a large attendance of the public was recorded when the grand parade of stock was being held. The society had all arrangements well m hand, for the success of which the president, Mr. H. G. Sampson, and the secretary, Sir. W. P. Okey, were mainly responsible. An event of much interest to farmers was the dog trials, and it proved to be so .popular that there is every probability of it being included in the programme at succeeding shows. The event was run in sections, and the result was a win for Mr. W. V. Mclntyre's lnglewood Boss, which won the event, scoring 54 points on the first day and 53 on the second, a total of 107, while J. Edwin's (Motonui) Jed, with 53 and 51 (104 points), was second. Detailed results: Driving and yarding event; open only to dogs which have won a first or second prize in eLher heading or yarding events • in open classes. Collins' Tit Bit was the best troop horse. The same owner's ,Shamrock was second in the class for harness horses over 15.1 bands and also second in the class for farmers' light harness horse. Mr. J. Collins' Nellie was second for pony 13 hands up to 14 hands, ridden by a boy or girl under 15 years. Mr; D. Collins' Slippery Tom was second in the class for harness pomes Xl.i hands and under 13 hands. In the competitions, Slippery Tom won the exhibition trotting event for ponies, also the pony jumping competition for ponies not over 13.1 hands. R. Collins divided second' honours for best boy rider. D. Collins was second in the' musical chairs competition.

A feature of the competitions was the success of Miss Hazel ! Cole's hunter Nimblefoot, which won both the champion jumping and steeplechase style competitions and was second in the women's hunter competition. Mr. Truby King's team of three pedigree Jersey females and one bull were very highly commended in their class. The same owner's three females in milk, the progeny of the same bull secured first honours. In the pig section, the group com.petition open to recognised branches 'of the New Zealand Pig Breeders' Association, for Berkshire and Tarnworths, Manawatu-Oroua beat Taranaki.
