EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
NO HOUSE-TO-HOUSE CANVASS In an endeavour to give everybody an opportunity to subscribe to the Earthquake Relief Fund, it was suggested at Wednesday's meeting of the committee that an employee, in each of the business houses, should take up a collection from among his fellow employees and hand the proceeds to the committee. I Cards for the purpose can be obtained from tne town clerk. Already the staffs of some of the business houses have handed in subscriptions. The school children have set a good example in this respect, several of the schools having organised campaigns. The Earthquake Relief Committee asks townsppeople to note that it is not intended, if it can be avoided, to make a house-to-house canvass of the district by means of subscription cards. Those who have made up their minds to subscribe should do so by leaving their subscriptions at the Town Clerk's Office as early as possible. Any amount, however small, will be acceptable.
