FURTHER HAVOC CREATED IN SHATTERED TOWN
Shortly after 10 o'clock last night advice was that the third of three severe shakes last night "flattened Hastings and had created serious disorder. People could not evacuate the town owing to the congestion caused by the transportation of Napier refugees and were compelled to spend the night in the open. Shocks are beiug experienced in Hastings every hour. PRESS ASSOCIATION ADVICE The Press Association's report of last night's quake states: "Another violent shake shook the town at 9 o'clock to-night. There is a clear sky with a very cool atmosphere."
