WATERWAY AND FOOTWAY.
TWO JVEW JSltlDtiES. Very soon there will be a footway connecting the northern and southern section s of Brecon Road. Two bridges have been constructed to carry a water-main and they will also carry a foot-way. The northern bridge has been completed so far as carrying the water-pipe is concerned, but ttie footway ha s still, to be made. The southern bridge, about 100 feet long, has recently been completed. Three concrete piers are provided for the uprights holding the decking. The footway is a neat job, with the netting one each side. Both bridge s were made by the permanent stah, and are a very creditable job. The new water-main will, make a great diserence to the pressure in Brecon Road north, The main from the catchment area runs east down Page Street, and previously water for the north-western quarter had to run' up Broadway, and then up Regan Street, in a threeinch pipe in the latter street. The new 4-inch pipe will give a greatly improved service in the north-west and also improve the service in the more northerly part of Broadway.
