VETERANS' ASSOCIATION.

THE ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the Stratford, South African' War Veterans' Association was held last night at the residence of Mr J. W. McMillan (president of the Association), and was well attended by members. Apologie s w ere received from Messrs J. W. Brooks, E. Duke, D. S. Glasgow, A. Ferguson and C. M. Lindop. The report and balance-sheet, which showed a credit balance of £7 13s 3d, were adopted. Mr T. Richardson gave a detailed account of the annual conference held at Wellington, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mr Irving, 9th N.Z. Contingent, was elected a member of the Stratford Branch. i ■ It was decided to conform to the wishes of the Dominion Conference to close the accounts before June 30 of each year, so as to enable all reports to be forwarded to headquarters before the annual conference to be held in July. The secretary was instructed to convey to the Dominion Executive appreciation from the Stratford Branch for their excellent work and attention to matters affecting South Africa war veterans throughout New Zealarid. The question of procuring suitable stationery wa s letf to the president and secretary. The secretary was voted an honorarium of £3 3s. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. President, Mr J. w. McMillan (reelected). Vice-president Mr T. Richardson (re-elected). Secretary and treasurer, Mr T. Lawson (re-elected). Executive, Messrs Hardy-Jones, R. Mounsey, J. W. B. Jones, F. G. Vickers and T. Richardson. At the conclusion of the meeting, each, in turn, gave a short story of some happening during the campaign, these items being much enjoyed.

SOCIAL. An adjournment was then made and members were treated right royally to delicacies of all descriptions, provided by Mrs McMillan, numbers doing full to the excellent fare provided.
