British Airship Policy
DEPENDS OX 11101 INQUIRY. EXTRA BAY PROVIDED FOR HELIUM. DIFFERENCE IN LIFT. Press Association-Copyright. (Received 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, October 15. It is stated that the reason for inserting the extra bay in RIOO was largely to make provision for the use of helium, which is less to lift than hydrogen. It was proposed to increase the airship’s capacity to half a million cubic feet of gas. The importance of helium is all the more greatly stressed since the RlOl disaster. It is unknown yet whether the stoppage is final. The future of the airship policy depends solely on the result of the RlOl inquiry.
