DOMINION’S DEFENCE
OFFICERS MEET MINISTER, MEETING PASSES RESOLUTION. WELLINGTON, July 30. It is stated that tho following is tho text of re-siutions passed at a conference between the Minister of Defence (the Hon. J. G. Cobbe), General Young and senior officers of the territorial forces:—
‘‘(1) This meeting approves of the scheme now submitted, providing same is not extended beyond May 31, 193.1, and providng also that the compulsory clement be not dispenscu wxtn, even temporarily. “(2) The meeting desires to urge the advisability of setting up, as early as possible, a Royal Commission to report on the whole question of defence."
Copies of the resolutions arc being forward to all territorial units throughout the Dominion.
