HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES.
NO. 7 HIGHWAYS DISTRICT. A special meeting of the Taranaki Local Bodies’ Association was held this morning at Elthain to review the question of alteration' of iTeavy Traffic Fees. The Elthani County Council submitted) a proposal that the fees should be allocated on a valuation and road mileage basis and that the present system should be a (rancone *. After considerable discussion, in which the merits and demerits of various schemes ..were brought forward, it was ultimately resolved; “That the present scheme of distribution be adhered to, with the exception that the Taranaki County and 1 New Plymouth Borough sub-districts allocate 20 utr cent, of its fees to neighbouring sub districts instead of I2i per cent, as hitherto.” Thei 20 per cent, will be allocated as under: Inglewood] sub-district 10 per cent. Stratford sub-district. 3 per cent Eltham sub-district 2 per cent. E'gmont County sub-district 21 p.c. Whangamomona County 2} per cent.
The system at present in vogue is th© one submitted bv the Stratford Borough Council in 1926.
