RECIPROCAL TRADE
MANUFACTURERS ASK TO BE HEARD WELLINGTON, July 4. Consequent on notice in the Gazette askin'-- for information on the subject of reciprocal trade, with other countries, the Manufacturers Federation, to-day, decided, to write to the Minister of Industries and Commerce asking that the Federation should be heard before anything was done, and, also, that the Department of industries and Commerce be asked to watch the interests of Now Zealand Manufacturers. Mr F L. Hutchinson introduced the matter and hoped the Federation would be given an oj-uortunily of being heaid. Mr klills-I’.:inier: We don’t want any decrease in duties. Mr R. partridge thought the Federation should watch, very carefully, any legislation the Government brought dpwn with regard to reciprocal trade with Australia. After brief discussion, the decision mentioned was arrived at.
