Mrs. E. Evans, of Matau, left this morning on a visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs C. Penn returned this morning from a visit to Wellington'. Mr an'd Mrs M. Hughjson and family are spending a few days at Rahotu. 'i , t Airs Bert Win mill has received word of the death of her father, Mr George Colley of Staffordshire, England. Mrs. Mowtell left this morning on return to her home at Wellington, after a visit to her sister, Mj*s. D. Carman. Mr. C. 0. Burton, of the Post Office staff, left for Auckland this morning on holiday. Air. F. J. Hopkins is about again after having l>een laid aside by illness for some weeks. At the funeral of Mr. J. Thriepland yesterday a firing party was supplied by the High School cadets, under Warrant-Officer Rowq. The Rev. J. McGregor officiated at the graveside. Air. >1 Bishara, of Taumaranui, is at present on a visit to Stratford. Ho was previously a resident of the town, leaving here about 1910, and lie is impressed 'with the progress the town ha's made since then. Air. A. E. Foster has taken up duty on tho cleafieal staff of the local Public Works office. Air. A, Davis, of tho local Public ’ AVorks office, is to retire from the service during this month. His sue. oessor, Mr. N. Seddon, has taken up duty.
