THE CROWD GREW. As time went on the crowd grew, and by ».30 am. the showroom and shop were packed with scores of ladies each anxious to satisfy her requirements. The staff were kept going at high pressure and the cash containers were rushing to the office in a continuous stream. Even between 5 and 7 p.m. when there is usually a lull, the rush continued, and the same occurred right up until closing time.
