UNEMPLOYMENT REPORT COUNTV COUNCIL PROTEST ASHBURTON, Marcft 7. The County Council resolved protesting against the constitution and finding of the committee on unemployment :ind tn'o imposition of any further burden on land. The commission was not representative'of the fanners and the recommend ntions as such, could not be borne by the' fanning community. Many farmers who pay the special land tax could employ two men with the money they would have to pay towards the scheme. The Council is of opinion that the scheme will tend to increased unemployment.
