SOUTHERN HIGHWAY
PAURORA bridge opened TIMARU, Dec. 4, A new ferro concrete bridge over the Pareora River 5 a the main Christchurch —Dunedin highway was officially opened for traffic to-day in the presence of a large gathering of the public and representatives of local bodies from Ashburton to Oamaru. The estimated cost of the bridge, which was constructed by the Public Works Department was £15,000 but the completed cost was £11,400. Of this amount the Highways Board 1 finding £7,G00. In the absence of tin Minister of Public Works the bridge was opened by Mr J. Bitchencr, M.P. for Waitaki.
