“ROBBING THE POOR”
REMARK BY BISHOP TO BE TAKEN FACETIOUSLY. HAMILTON, Oct. 4. t Bishop Cherrington, in an interview in the ‘‘Waikato Times,” explains, in regard to his protest against sales of work for church funds, his reference to “robbing the poor” was simply a .facetious allusion to prices paid by generous purchasers. He had nothing but praise for Guild women who worked their fingers to the bone in the service of the Church.
