The annual Flower Show, under the auspices of the Horticultural Society, held in the Town Hall ctrj Saturday last, Avas a great credit to Stratford, the exhibits being exceptionally good. There Avas a good attendance, both in the afternoon and evening.

Curtis, Mrs Jardine, Mrs W. Spence, Mrs Steven, Mrs Truby King, Mrs Hunt, Mrs Uniacke Mrs Malone, Mrs Colemaq, Mrs CTesswell, Mrs Cutfleid, Miss Porritt, Miss Squires. Mr Norman gave a most interesting lecturette to the pupils of S; Mary’s on Thursday afternoon, when some entertaining, incidents of life in the East were told.

Some of our youthful dancing devotees, went down to Patea for the golf hall on Tuesday night and enjoyed it muchly. The official closing of the Golf Club took place on Thursday, when Mrs Bowler and her partner, Mr Gaw, won the last match of the season. The weather was true cool , s golf, weather. Curtis, Mrs and Miss Riera, Mr amd Miss Malone, Mr and Mrs Abraham, Mrs Rutherford, Mr Rutherfurd, Mr and Mrs Fisher, Mi’s Knewstubb, Mr and Mrs Urwin, Mr and Mrs R. B. Mrs Hill (Mangatoki) was at home on Thursday afternoon. Mrs Cresswell was at home on, Thursday night.

Mrs Kay had some friends for bridge on Friday afternoon. Mrs Mark, who was “Dame of honour” at her sister’s wedding on Wednesday night, received the guests afterwards at her residence. The gathering was purely a family one, those invited were: Mrs Benb,ett, mother of the bride, Mrs Till mother of Capt. Wood, Mrs Oliver (New Plymouth), sister of the bride, Mrs Campbell Jackson, sister of the bridegroom, and also Mrs T. Kirkwood, Messrs Bennett and Oliver, Kirkwood and Campbell Jackson. The Druids held a very successful card party in the Parish Hall on Wednesday, those playing were: Mrs Aagaard, Mrs Nichols, Mrs Wickstead, Mrs Robson, Mr s Knight, Mrs Dwyer, Mrs Shai'rock, Mrs Coward, Mrs Tunbridge, Mrs Whittington, Mrs Byron, Mrs Hignett Mrs Elgar, Mrs Reader, Mrs Gatton, Mrs Summerfield, Mrs McGilvery, Mrs Butchart, Mis s Paynter, Miss Aagaard, the Misses Nelson, Miss Jones, Miss White A very nice supper was

Those present were: Mesdames R. A. .Ritchie, L. Mills, W. Harris, J. L. 0. Rowe, W- E. Jones, F. Kirkwood, E. H. Eason, 0. S', Kelly, O. H. Sole, W. A. Potts, G. F. Court. R, A. Morgan, W. 0. Liddell, A. E. White, A. Dickinson and Miss Clemow. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames E. Norden and W. Hoskin. The two competitions held were won by Airs Bellringer—guessing advertisements (bread fork) and guessing flower names (silver egg cup and spoon). Much appreciated vocal items were given by Mesdames Harris and Mills, Mr s Ritchie acting as accompanist. Airs Court gave a pianoforte solo, and Airs Rowe contributed a number of recitations. A highly enjoyable time was spent by those present, a very sumptuous afternoon tea being partaken of. Proceedings were terminated by the company joining hands for the singing of “She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.”
