TARANAKI lillAlSCli MEETS. 1 BREEDERS’ (At NEE RE ATE RECOMMENDED. The Taram.aki Branch of the Friesian Association met yesterday afternoon, Air C. A. Marchant presiding over a fair attendance. An apology for absence was received from Mr K. E. Johnson, of Tokaora, who forwarded a suggestion that at the Royal Show a meeting of all dairy breeders should be held to discuss the inequalities in the present pay-out system used it), New Zealand. It was decided to forward the suggestion to Mr Kalaugher, secretary of the New Zealand Friesian Association, as a recommendation from the branch and ask him to circularise the various breed societies to' obtain their opinions on their subject, with a view of arranging such a conference. A letter was received from the Egmont A. and P. Association asking for the F'riesian Association’s subsidy on prize money. The chairman said ho had no knowledge of the branch promising to pay such subsidies. Their policy was to reduce prize money as their funds ..were not very great. He would have liked Mr H. E. Johnson to have been present so they could have discussed the matter with him. They may have given money for one

show, but had not promised a subsidy each year If such a thing was published, in the schedule it would place them in an awkward position. It was decided to refer the matter to Mr H. E, Johnson, who could confer with Mr Crighton, secretary of the E'gmont Association, and form a report. PROVINCIAL PRIZES. The New Zealand Friesian Association advised they had allotted a £SO prize for the best provincial group of Friesians at the forthcoming Royal Show. As the show was to be held in Southland, it was thought no Taranaki Friesians would bo entered. Mr TV. C. Clements, of Eltham, advised of bis acceptance of a seat on the executive of the branch.
