(By “PAPERMONEY.”) The Auckland Spring meetingopens to-morrow (Saturday). The fields are large and the class of ijrorse good. The meeting between). Eaglet and Pink Coat in the Great Northern Guineas will be of interest all over the Dominion. A large field of iwcnty-one is carded for the Trial Hurdle Race, li| miles. Ah Wera, Golden Wedding, and Cybele may be in most demand when the machine closes. Eaglet looks like being the favourite for the Great Northern Guineas. Pink Coat will represent the South Island, and is a good one. Hunting Cry has winning form. Supremacy was a good one last season, but has been doing good work ora* the tracks. Leader may find the distance a bit far. Air Ladder and Flying Prince are reported to be well. When the machine 'clones Eaglet, Pink Coat and Hunting Cry may have most friends. The Short s Handicap, six furlongs, looks very open, and some of, the acceptors have recent form to recommend them. Lady Quex, Polyxena and Awarere are a likely tidjjj to run prominently.

Star Stranger is top weight with 9.11 in the Mitchelson Cup, li miles, and will go well. Historic (9.7) will be the favourite. Prince Humphrey (8.12) will have some friends. Prodice (8.9) is a good one, and will run well. Barometer tfild Piuthair are both weighted at 7.13. The former is not too sound, but the latter has got a great show. Transformer (7.11) will be suited by the distance. High Pitch and Desert Glow (7.10, have not much form lately. The latter will be coupled with Prodice. Singleton (7.8) and Talisker (7.1 are not overburdened. Amor (7.0) does out appeal much. Historic, Star Stranger and Prodice may be in the firing liuie at the finish. Pbmpeius, Sea Comet and Royonnant may be the public’s fancies in the Hunters’ Steeplechase, about 2 h miles. Some of the juveniles in the Welcome Stakes have shown some recent form. Royal Ruler, Imamint, and Isa may be thereabouts at the finish. Otairi, Standfast aii\d Reremoana will be suited by the distance in the Plying Handicap, seven furlongs, and should go well. The Gordon Handicap, one mile has drawn a large field of twenty. Prince Val, Sea Cob and Good Boy go well over a mile, and will have plenty of friends. NAPIER PARK. The Napier Park spring meeting takes place to-morrow (Saturday). Wedded, Sea Scout and Warworn may he more forward than the others in the Prince of Wales Stakes, four furlongs. Manifesto, I’m Alone and Merry Melody are sure to have plenty of friends in the Trial Handicap, six furlongs. Process Elizabeth, Jen and Rakauponga may be the hardest to head off in the Greenmeadows Hack Hurdles, miles. Kick Off is top-weight with 9.9 in the Park Stakes and will be hard to beat. Blimp (8.2) if the track is dry will go well. King’s Jest (7.8), High Court (7.3), and Shrewd .(7.0) make up a weak field. Kick Off will be the favourite. Brown Sugar, Sylvan Dell and

Potency are sure to carry plenty of support if they go to the post in the Ahuriri Hack Handicap, six furlongs. Queen’s Choice, Rouex and Zippor should go well ifi 4 the Taradale Highweight, one mile. Toxeuma, Royal . Lineage and Merry Damon may be thereabouts over the last furlong in the Railway Handicap, six furlongs. Racing circles had another shock to-day when Mid Kent was withdrawn from the Metropolitan owing to a hurst heel. Limerick’s withdrawal has been a great disappointment. Newspapers feature the incident and express the hope that the last lias not yet been seen of the champion. Newspapers .also give prominence, to the great form being shown hy other New Zealand; horses —Nightmarch, Paquito, Aussie and Pomp. Hie Randwick course looks a picture alter the recent rains.
