ROBBERS THREATEN BANK

RETIRE ON BEING RESISTED SYDNEY, Sept. 5. Three masked men daringly held up the manager and the assistant of the Woollahra branch of the Bank of New South Wales this afternoon. The assistant, Thomas Hold grove, dived for a rev( Ivor under the counter and was shot in the leg. The men then fired at the manager N. Everett, a bullet grazing his arm. Apparently nonplussed by the unexpected resistance of the bank staff, the men raced away without attempting to raid the funds and escaped in a motor car, Hie engine of which was runnino as the machine stood in the front of the bank. ARRESTED * MEN CHARGED SYDNEY, Sept. 5. The police arrested three men whom they charged with attempted robbery under arms and shooting with intent to murder. The bank was a branch of the Government Savings Bank.
