Instructions have been given for tile issue of writs claiming £70,000 damages for alleged libel from the Sydney Morning Herald on behalf of seven timber strike loaders at present on remand on charges of conspiracy. The citation of the Herald for contempt of court is also proposed, and the solicitors have been directed to consider the advisability of action against the Minister of Mines, Mr Weaver.—Australian Press Assn.
