FURTHER HEAVY SHOCKS AT WESTPORT
MAINY PEOPLE UNDISTURBED. WATER SUPPLY RESTORED. WESTPORT, August 8. Another heavy earthquake shock was felt at Westport at 9.22 p.m. Although a shake which occurred at 12.10 a.m. yesterday was a heavy and sustained one, it is surprising how many people slept through it. There was a fairly severe 'quake at Greymouth about 9.20 p.m. The 14in.. water main which was damaged badly by the big earthquake on June 17 has been restorA the restoration including the laying of many new pipes. As the completion of this work gives Westport a supply and pressure of water possessed by few towns, and removes danger from big fires, the people are feeling more secure. Fortunately no fires occurred during the time the water was cut off, or later when ! l only a limited supply was obtainable.
