LEHIiKE CUP CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY STRATFOEB CLU& Teams representing the Stratford Chess Club and the South Taranaki Club met at Haweru last night in the final for the Lehrke Cup championship. i Stratford Avon all the games played, as follows: F. Hollins- beat J. Goldstonev E. Cole beat D. Poole. B. S. Rutherfurd beat ALP.' Raine. E. Soundy beat C. H. King. C. Speck beat Mrs Hart. The players were entertained at supper. Mr Poole congratulated the Stratford Club on winning the double, as Mr E. Cole last week won the individual championship at Eltham. Mr E. S. Rutherfurd suitably replied' on behalf of 1 members of the Stratford Club. Mr E. Cole is to be congratulated on his fine win at Eltham last week. He played very good' chess, and is ■one of the most' enthusiastic play»ers in the district. ' A draughts practice is to be held in the Egmont Club this evening, and all draughts players are invit■scl to attend.
