FIVE MEN DROWNED IN FLOODED RIVER
— (Received 9.5 a.m.) CALCUTTA, July 27. Owing to a sudden rise in the Sabarmati River near Aimedabad, thirty-five men, principally washermen, were drowned]. Attempts lat rescue by throwing ropes from bridges and other places were fruitless. The river i s still rising. —Australian Press Assn.
