On the day following the last day of the "Wellington races, Kenneth Duncan McGregor wa s put under an anaesthetic at the Wellington races after having an arm broken, through being knocked down by a car driven by Haydon Algar, a butcher. At the inquest to-day evidence was given that the deceased lurched into the car while drunk, and medical evidence stated that he was suffering from 'acute alcoholism when put under the operation. The Coroner, Mr Barton, S.M., returned a verdict of cardiac failure during the operation.
