HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of' the Strat■Si Friendly Societies Hospital Associate was held last night, Mr J. WJones, president, being in the .X v chair. . purpose of insuring, members against the cost of treatment at the Hospital.

;. The agreement wi th the Stratford ii Hospital Board had been, in force for . barely a year, but. it , had been very satisfactory in its. operation both to , ' Board and to the Association. 'JL'hro- ; ugh the lodges each of the 635 finan- ■ cial members contributes the sum of : 4s Od to the Hospital Board and a i further 6d, towards the costs of man»gement. During the period under review, 52 members or their families : received treatment at the hospital for the total number of 1164 days. This gave an average amount received by the Board of 6s lOd per day.

Mr Jones referred to the satisfactory working of the association and ■’! ./the cordial relations that had’ existed . . since the inception of the agreement with; the Hospital Board. The fact that by virtue of membership and the v, regular payment of dues, a member ■ could obtain six months’ free treatroent at the institution was of very 'Jjpal assistance in. time of sickness, was greatly appreciated by membens, ■ ‘ ,' ' ; l- • i :.■} Mr Jones congratulated the excutive and the secretary (Mr I*. L. Bellringer) upon the year’s work. The j //.association, of course, could not con- ■ aerve funds on its , own behalf to any great extent, but he was pleased to not© that th© small levy mad© for management expenses had been sufficient for. the purpose. ' The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mr |J, W. B. Jones j vice-president, Mr H. E. J. Kiell; secretary and treasurer, Mr L. L. Bellringer; auditor, Mr O. C. Johnston. Mr M, Gernhoefer vwas congratulated upon his election -to the Hospital Board where, it was felt, he would watch the interests of tne association. - ;

Votes of thanks were accorded the Hospital Board for the manner in which it had dealt with the association during the past year, and to the secretary arid treasurer, Mr fcell- ' ringer. <’ ...
