POSTER THAT SWORE
LONDON. The Govan Police Court fined Peter Pickard the maximum, of £l, in default, 10 days' gaol, for exhibiting' a poster containing the word "damn:" The poster was worded: ' 'The White Elephant isn't so damn'far away;''; It was displayed on a building adjoining a rival picture-house.
One witness declared that the exhibition poster was a disgrace to Glasgow citizens. It was simply t* "swear," and had been there', swearing at the corner, for the past five weeks.
