The latest message from the Southern Cross at 3 a.m., Sydney time, stated: "All well, speed ninety : seven knots, altitude fiv e thousand feet dead reckoning."
The plane took off from Derby at 5.40 p.m. yesterday (local time). Flying conditions were good, and it was expected that Singapore would be reached to-day.
